LONELY PLANET'S OFFICIAL ITINERARY INFORMATION
Itinerary: Kid's Malaysia & Singapore
Kuala Lumpur (KL) has several attractions that will keep the kids happy. In the Lake Gardens there's Bird Park, Butterfly Park, Deer Park and Planetarium. The Skybridge at the Petronas Towers will be a hit, as will be the same complex's Petrosains interactive science discovery centre.
Within day-trip distance of KL are Desa Waterpark and Sunway Lagoon Waterpark. There's also Mines Wonderland, an amusement park packed with theme rides and musical fountains.
For an educational experience on the wonders of the jungle, take the family to Taman Negara. Even if a long hike is out the question, the braver of your children will readily clamber across the canopy walkway or float down the river on an inner tube.
Out of the beaches and islands of the east coast, you might want to choose Pulau Kapas or Cherating which are slightly more geared towards family holidays.
Singapore is a great place to take the kids. You are just as likely as your little ones to enjoy the excellent zoo and night safari. Monkeys can easily be spotted on walks around Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the MacRitchie Reservoir. It's fun pedalling around Pulau Ubin and you can hire bikes on Sentosa Island which also boasts a top-class aquarium, dolphin shows, an old fort and OK beaches.
