FOUR WEEKS / GDANSK TO WROCLAW
Taking in every town mentioned here would involve a road trip of around 2000km, or three to four weeks travelling at a comfortable sightseeing pace.

This route meanders through central Poland, taking in the best of the country’s historical sites, which range from medieval towns to imposing castles.
Begin in the port city of Gdansk, then head southeast to the grand castle of the Teutonic Knights at Malbork. From here you can make a side trip to another fine castle at Lidzbark Warminski, before continuing south to the medieval town of Torun.
The route now leads southwest to Gniezno, the cradle of the Polish state, and Poznan, with its attractive Old Town. Next stop is Warsaw, visiting the old religious centre of Lowicz along the way.
After a few days in the capital, head southeast to picturesque Kazimierz Dolny, Lublin, with its small but attractive Old Town, and the Renaissance masterpiece of Zamosc, one of Poland’s finest historic towns, before turning back west to the magnificent former capital city of Kraków, taking in the beautiful castle of Baranów Sandomierski on the way.
After a few days of exploration, use the city as a base for day trips to the pilgrimage centre of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and the imposing Monastery of Jasna Góra at Czestochowa before making a final trip westward to the delightful old city of Wroclaw.
