On day two ramble around Old Delhi's historic Red Fort and Jama Masjid before diving into the old city's rambunctious bazaars.
On day three make an early morning start southeast for Agra so you have adequate time at the enchanting Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
Spend day four wandering around the fortified ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri and, if time permits, sneak a peek at Akbar's Mausoleum.
On day five start early for Jaipur to check out its medley of sights.
