Late for the bus so we get the roof...the start of a long, hot day. And no, that guy behind me has not been hit with a damn fine paintball shot, it's just a mixture of rice, yoghurt and pigments...it's for Dasain a BIG festival here: by gretch_costa, Views[13]

Sadhus consistently offer tikkas (a splash of colour on the forehead)...for a price of course. It was a challenge to fight them off as their red-dyed fingers zoned in on your forehead.: by gretch_costa, Views[3]

Kathmandu in a major earthquake (which it is due for)?? No thanks: by gretch_costa, Views[4]

There's always a festival going on in Nepal and we arrived during one of the biggest, Dasain. Everything was shut for a few days and most of Kathmandu's residents went back to their villages. A rather unfortunate side effect of this festival is the death of thousands of goats. These poor buggars were tied to a rope which got shorter and shorter as the slaying progressed right in front of their eyes. Walking through Kathmandu this day was all about avoiding the bloody spills and 'goat bits' which littered the street. Not for vegos.: by gretch_costa, Views[3]

Anyone for a dip? Kathmandu's Bagmati river: by gretch_costa, Views[3]
