The monument at the top of mount Buzludja is the biggest ideological monument in Bulgaria. It was built in Stara planina in 1981 in honour of the first socialist congress held there in 1891. After the political changes that occurred in 1989 the condition of the monument is poor. The building is not only unusable, but is also left falling into pieces due to vandalism and time. Buzludja is a symbol, which is still being destroyed due to passivity.
