Since arriving in Pokhara I have been having a nice relaxing holiday. It would be easy to stay here for a long time doing pretty much nothing. My mornings are taken up with getting up late, followed by a lazy breakfast and the internet or a trip to ... Read more >

I have spent 13 years of my life trying to get out of school, so
it's pretty weird to be back at one, of my own free will, with no pay.

I'd probably have studied a bit harer and ... Read more >

I took the bike to fix a puncture the other day, and enjoyed
seeing the mechanic put the tire in water to look for air bubbles to tell where
the hold was. His patience in rotating the tire to put each section in the
shallow bucket, pressing gently ... Read more >

Waytu-Ka is the second “canoua” of its kind built in recent times in Dominica. The main body is made of one massive gommier tree that was felled by the indigenous Kalinago people in the depths of the forest or “Zion” as they often refer to it. After a week in the forest the tree was hollowed and stretched using traditional methods that have been passed down for generations. Parked on the roadside in front of a beautiful vista, you get the sense that some traditions have remained strong. This canoua will be sailed through the Caribbean in part to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the Kalinago territory in Dominica.
