    On the North Head looking at Cheltenham Beach, named one of the best beaches in Auckland (when it's high tide). You can see the tide is waaaay out and the beach looks kinda funny.: by kiwi_kerry, Views[842]

         		 In Devonport... finally took a ferry across the Auckland Harbour to this little, but $$ town of Devonport to climb some mini volcanoes... a practise run before Rangitoto which you will see in some of these pix.: by kiwi_kerry, Views[402]

         		 In Twizel there was a limestone rock face with some ancient maori paintings on it. Lisa liked the way the limestone had eroded and took some interesting photos.: by paul_byrom, Views[372]
     
    We spent our next night on the beach next to these weird boulders. Maori legend says they're food baskets from a shipwreck years ago, scientists say they're septarian concretions from the eroded cliffs and formed 60 million years ago.     The next lot of photos are all in a little town called Bundoran, which is quite beautiful but has a tacky 'seaside resort' side to it too, with the ubiquitous seaside funfair that seems to be in every seaside town in Ireland, and this one's a bit bigger than most. Bundoran is one of the famous surf breaks in Ireland, and can apparently get really good, but the weather was crap when I was here. The coastline is quite beautiful, and there are mountains just behind the town that are almost always shrouded in mist.: by neri, Views[887]
