Surrounded by beautiful ocean, Okinawa is an island paradise and the way of life is inherently peaceful. 命どぅ宝 (nuchidu takara) is a common saying in the Okinawan language that means "life is a treasure". Although the issue of bases in Okinawa has been simmering for over 50 years, people remain determined and optimistic in their dream for a base-free future.
