         		 On my way home, I stopped at Lahugala to observe elephants. But unluckily they had already left the river bank. What I could capture was this Hawk.     We were treated with so much hospitality at the farmer’s little palace. The garden was a true beauty with all types of vegetables grown. And it was a bird paradise. A coconut tree was full of these birds, (we call them WADU (means carpenter) birds and their nests. It was such a beautiful housing scheme.          		 We went to the above mentioned farmers house with his invitation. On the way what we saw was a young girl, her two little brothers and grandmother taking their cattle for feeding them.          		 The youth follows their elders’ steps and take up the burden of cultivation. Farmers’ daughters get married around their 18’s usually to another farmers son where they strive to increase the land cultivated.          		 Monaragala is the major corn producing district of Sri Lanka. And the majority of the people here are corn farmers. Rain is a crucial factor for the cultivation. Both drought and heavy rains can damage the crop.          		 I wonder whether the boy attends school. In a remote area in Srilanka, small boys like him do not have the money even to buy footwear. They help their parents by carrying buckets of water to fill up their water barrels (yeah barrels, not tanks) from nearby streams, cleaning the house, running on small errands, etc.: by srilankan, Views[652]

         		 This lady was captured in a very remote area in Srilanka where she has to carry this bag (weekly provision for her family) among these hills where the only mode of transport for these villagers is the local train down beneath the hills.          		 i was about 300m before tunnel when i heard the sound of the train and i ran with my camera and i saw the light of the train appearing through the tunnel and i did not have much time to set my exposure, but i did my best and zoomed full range up to 55mm with my kit lens.: by srilankan, Views[1458]
