    The Scott Monument, dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, author of such famous books as Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, and The Lady of The Lake. It looks like a giant goth rocketship. If you climb all 287 steps to the top, you get a certificate commemorating the event, as well as a cup of coffee and a free kitten.: by wilski, Views[948]
         		 The statue commemorating Ye Olde Bobby. Years before his passing, a law was put through stating all dogs without an owner were to be destroyed. The mayor of Edinburgh at the time, hearing this paid for Bobbys' license, thus sparing him from a fate worse than.. um.. sparing him from a fate of death. When Bobby finally carked it, his body wasn't allowed to be buried within the cemetary as it was consecrated ground.          		 A wall of the Greyfriars Kirkyard, covered with memorial tablets to those poor unfortunates committed to the ground, and possibly dug up at a later stage to be sold to the local university for dissection (a scarily easy way to make cash back in the day, the uni paying big coin for a freshly dead corpse): by wilski, Views[447]
         		 The tomb of 'Bloody' George Mackenzie, whose poltergeist is said to cause bruising, cuts and bites to those who come into contact with it. It was freed by a homeless man who broke into the vault to shelter from the rain. The ground inside gave way and he collapsed through into the tomb, unleashing the ghost of Mr Mac. The ghost made the homeless dude shit his potato sack. Later on, a schoolboy, hiding in the valt to escape from a fatal beating administered by his headmaster, lost his mind on being confronted by the ghost. It has since ignored demands for its return.     Greyfriars Kirkyard, site of one of the most hauntiest tomb in Edinburgh. The ground is chock full of corpses here, every step you take is onto a grave. Squishy.: by wilski, Views[428]

    See that tall crooked building in the middle? It's the oldest building in Edinburgh. Used to be the rich would live at the bottom, and the poorer families would live higher up. It's the reverse nowadays, but the reason behind it used to be that if there was a fire, and there was always something burning back then, the rich could get out easier while the poor people would have to jump. They would of course aim to land on a rich person to break their fall. One of the benifits of living up in the higher floors was that you had fantastic views of the poor pepoles bedrooms opposite your house, and you could throw your poo onto peoples hats in the street.: by wilski, Views[703]
         		 The Heart of Midlothian! How epic-sounding eh? This mosaic marked where the prison used to stand and public executions took place. It was and still is common these days to see people spitting on the heart, as a sign of disdain for the former prison and also because it's considered good luck.          		 St Giles, halfway between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace, it's the mother church of Presbytarianism. It's where God lives when he's in town. Very noisy neighborhood though, so many tourists wandering around, if I was him I'd double-glaze my stained-glass windows.: by wilski, Views[549]
         		 Nothing like a walking tour on a sunny day in Edinburgh to cheer up a downy clowny. I think vitamin D has something to do with happiness. I think a pint o lager is a good substitute for vitamin D. This is The Royal Mile, so named because it's a mile long and the Royal Palace is at one end of the street, Edinburgh castle at the other.          		 The morning after, stumbling around Edinburgh with some strawberry milk and a donut, it was one of the saddest moments of my trip.
