         		 South St & 4th St. South: Jim’s Steak. 4 hours to find the countries best Philly Cheese Steak. On my way to Germany I was laid over for a few hours. Every city I visit I make a point to find the best
         		 South St & 4th St. South: Jim’s Steak. Along with the fifty other people standing outside I waited 45 minutes to enter the insanely famous Philly cheese steak establishment. Soon enough I realized that there were another fifty people waiting on the inside. This is outside looking in through the South street window at Jim’s Steak “… since 1939!” Patrons wide eyed and slack jawed stare as another massive side of beef is laid by the man at the beginning of one cheese steaks journey. Right to left the meat is fried gradually on the massive cooktop. Orders are taken, meat and bread come together, condiments are place and beverages are ordered. The weathered cobblestone road got a quiet laugh as I watched a woman attempt to walk the now pedestrian stones in her “pumps”.          		 Walnut St & 6th St. South: Independence Hall. Philadelphia feels like the center of the United States. I started my walk from a subway station beneath a downtown shopping center. Blindly I followed a small crowd until i found myself in a green park centered among a bare forest of grand old trees.          		 It is quite amazing what time, wind, and water are able to create. This place is known as 'Hole in the wall' and is a 1 mile hike down Rialto Beach on the Pacific Coast of Washington State.     Reliable Trails: Pittsburgh boasts of endless staircases that lead to the best views of the city. Polish Hill smugly claims several of these staircases that residents use daily to cut across streets while soaking the sun's last rays. I accompanied an artist and his two year old daughter on their evening walk along one such set of stairs.          		 Deep Set: It is hard to explain the quirks of Polish Hill- the tight knit backyards, the sloping roads, or why it's the best kept secret of Pittsburgh. As I walked the streets on a sunny, not very Pittsburgh-like day, I came across a house that I could not see. The surroundings indicated that it should be there in front of me; I peered down the wooden gate to find it resting down the hill.     Rockaway Beach, NY: Tables at St. Camillus School are overflowing with clothing provided by donations. The gymnasium doors were open for residents and suppliers alike. Trucks constantly pulled in and out of the street, with cadres of men and women of all ages hauling boxes of supplies inside. Occupy Sandy as well as FEMA were able to provide material assistance, but for most, it's not enough. Jose Marrero, a resident of Rockaway Beach, is among the many.
         		 Rockaway Beach, NY: The gymnasium behind St. Camillus and St. Virgilius Parish had been turned into a place for residents to restock on the necessities. Narrow aisles snaked through tables of clothing and food donated by people and various organizations. People could pick up anything from hot food to warm clothing. Ormsby lives right by the boardwalk and saw firsthand when the waters rushed in and lifted the boardwalk past his window. When I found him resting by the side of the road with his dog, he was cheerful, but he knew that it would be a while before life in the Rockaways would be restored as he once knew it..          		 Nestled inside Acadia National Park,this place they gather is called Lakewood. This collection of images is part of an ongoing project of mine.However, the selected images are those which strongly explore the concept that I am seeking. I photograph people,places and experiences that are captured as truest to the nature of that environment. This project examines a place called Lakewood ,within Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island in Maine,USA. Lakewood is a place where people go to admire the beauty and tranquility of the natural world.This group of people in particular comprises of national as well as international youths studying at a local college. There they all attend and look to become part of the bigger world, thru international change in human and environmental rights and activism. I sought to capture not only the beauty of their own,chosen, routine and experience of this place, but also provoke an emotional exposure and connection between their own adolescence and those looking at the images. I documented their personal actions and moments as they are for I believe the feelings, moments and experiences of people like this group are some of the most important things to remember in life. At Lakewood, good times are had, however it is a place where this group of individuals look to reflect not only on themselves personally but the world.This place is beautiful, unique and a privilege to experience. However,this series seeks to capture those feelings that every single person has. This place has the power to create the feelings and memories of youth, experimenting, exploring and reflecting on the opportunities, challenges and will in life.
