         		 Ghost Ranch is a sacred place to many, a mecca for the spiritual and creative. With its shifting light and breathtaking vistas it tranforms lives. Just ask Cerro Pedernal, the flat topped mesa in the background that acted as Georgia O'Keefe's muse.          		 Freedom: The amazing natural scenery and animal life that surrounded me at the lake was a purifying experience, culminating with two low flying hawks that hovered over me for what seemed like hours. I managed to shoot them from many angles. The emptiness of the massive sky was pierced by these beautiful birds with their sharp defined wings and the delicate light. They defined freedom for me, and this symbolised my trip to the lake. I hope to learn better how to create sharp images with moving subjects such as birds. : by eburford, Views[1327]
     
    Daily life: Life around the lake is simple yet treacherous. Most of the people who make their living in this high altitude lake rely solely on their animals. The harsh conditions make animal husbandry very challenging and a bad season or the death of an animal can be a huge setback to the yearly income and subsequent survival of the family. This nomadic lifestyle will not be around in near future; it was a privilege to photograph these people and their animals. : by eburford, Views[630]
         		 Morning: I slept in a nomad tent next to the lake and every morning yaks would amble down the drink the cold crisp water. I felt like an intruder, it was his lake and not mine; he was glaring at me. I love the ripples he created with his hoofs in the puddle. Just one small yak against the backdrop of giant snowy peaks and a huge sky highlighted the isolation of the lake.: by eburford, Views[560]
         		 Layers: I love this photo because the foreground, centre and background all have interesting elements. I felt I captured the lonesome life by the lake with this curious Bactrian camel. I used black and white because I wanted to highlight the light and dark of the camel’s fur, the shadows of the clouds on the mountain and also the blinding white of the snow and the fluffy clouds. : by eburford, Views[808]
         		 Reflection: The glass reflection of the mountains on Karakorum lake highlighted the pristine beauty and starkness of the landscape. I trekked precariously around the lake with my camera and tripod and nervously into the marsh to find the best angle for the reflection. : by eburford, Views[994]
