    More tree/vine inspection by Kim. It was quite interesting to see something so alien from our everyday environment, and yet so naturally aesthetically pleasing.: by dysfunctional, Views[242]

         		 We often passed the thatch-roofed huts of locals on the trail. Such a simple, tough, yet satisfying life they seem to live. Often leaves an interesting perspective and question regarding quality and style of life...: by dysfunctional, Views[230]

         		 Ollie taking a quick dip. It was never cold during the day, despite walking through the rain at times. The mornings were generally sunny and overly warm though, so swimming was a welcome break.: by dysfunctional, Views[279]
         		 We crossed the creeks so many times during our trek. Only on the first crossing did we bother to cross on the stones. After that, we all quite sensibly gave up on the idea of dry feet, and started just walking across the river bed.     I took a lot of shots of hillside and jungle vistas, but they don´t do it all justice. It was awesome treking through the jungle, looking at the vegitation and hillsides and clouds. I loved it.: by dysfunctional, Views[290]

    A breif pause ahead to take a snap of some of the others taking on the trail behind me. Can´t pause long though, or the mossies find you. Anne copped it worst, all over here legs. She was probably the sacrifice for the group, although Darron, here American friend, took quite a lot on his back by the end of the trek.          		 I spent a considerable amount of time on the trek following the porter´s or guide´s back like this. I felt great while hiking the trails, and was able to keep up with them when a lot of others had fallen behind. It was good fun keeping up with the porter over the slippery and uneven terrain. Granted, I did have the advantage of only having a small day pack on my back, where as he was carrying about 25 kilos. Strong spry lad still managed to almost lose me a couple of times. I think he was having fun racing ahead with me, because he started encouraging me to take off whenever he did.: by dysfunctional, Views[272]
         		 Caught KC genuanly laughing in this one. On the right is Anne from America, who we met at the hostel the night before the trek. She was the guide´s favorite on the trip, because she was the only girl in our group, and spoke pretty fluent Espaniol. The guide would talk specifically to her regularly, and help her across river crossings or on slippery slopes. He actually offered here a foot massage at one stage - but only her. She didn´t take him up on it, but thats not the point. We all joked that the guide was keen to add an American notch in his belt.          		 The guy in the yellow shirt is Ollie. We ran into him first in Porta Natales, Patagonias, Chile, then again in Arequipa, Preu, again at the Peru-Ecuador boarder. So we organised to do the Lost City trek together, and met him at a hostel in Taganga, near Santa Marta, Colombia. In this photo we´re standing under a shelter, but it is a waste of time. We´re already soaked, there´s more walking in the warm rain to do, and nothing dries in that kind of humidity.: by dysfunctional, Views[262]

         		 The weather is predictable in this part of Colombia, near Santa Marta. It almost always was sunny in the morning, drisly in the early afternoon, and absolutely pissing down from the late afternoon until late at night. Here, we can see the gathering clouds caused by the rising thermals in the humid air. Convection currents at work, generating Cumulous clouds that develop in Cumulonimbus storm clouds, which generally climax with rain, thunder and lightning. The boys started calling me Cloud Boy during the early stages of the trip, and I guess now you can probably start to see why!: by dysfunctional, Views[299]
         		 The walking track was muddy clay in places, which made the trek quite a bit more fun in those areas. Always wondering who would slip over next. This was not bad part of the track, though.: by dysfunctional, Views[247]
         		 Storms reaked havoc on the dirt road that leads to the start of the Lost City trek. On the way there, the road had deteriated to the point where it was not fit for 4 wheels, so the tour company hired bikers to drive us up there. This was KCs bike, I think. My moto driver on the way up was not particularly talented with the bike. He wouldn´t sit forward enough at the start of the ride, so when he reved it up a particularly steep bump in the road, he caused the bike to mono. I hung on for a while, but realised after a few moments that he wasn´t going to be able to regain control sufficiently, so I bailed off the back. Took some minor damage on my right arm, which has copped a lot during this trip. No major damage though, and the ride was still good fun. On the way back after the trek, the road was even worse, and so we motored only half way back down the track, then walked the rest. I actually felt safer on the ride back because the driver had more control over the bike, even though he went twice as fast as the previous rider, and didn´t give me a helmet!     Storms are common up near Santa Marta in Colombia. This is an avalanche resulting from such a storm. We lost a bit of time on the way to and from the Lost City trek because of it.: by dysfunctional, Views[270]
