         		 Walking through village raod early morning around 7 am fortunate to capture
     
    Winter here in my city is now as good as gone. Nights are comfortably cold, but it has started to become hotter day by day. At my place winter happens just as close as a morning sweet dream to someone: by gharatmanoj, Views[185]
         		 On one side of the busy Mumbai road, roaring with traffic, is a huge bridge. On the other side is the entrance to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Morning view is bliss: by gharatmanoj, Views[249]
         		 After Kangra, I further traveled down towards Nangal and made made another stop at Jwala Ji temple, another of the holy places in Indian culture. Famous for it's unexplained flames burning through centuries, this holy place has seen even the great Mughal emperor, Akbar, walk barefoot for almost 550 km to come and pay his homage. I took this shot at the havan-kund, which is in the premises of the main temple. While waiting for the smoke in the havan to intensify, i noticed this child come and very religiously do the usual practice of offering prasad at the havan-kund. This is one of the many pictures i took of him and never in all those clicks he looked at me, nor did the sound of the camera distract him.          		 On the 3rd day, I stared my journey downwards from Dharamshala. I halted at Kangra, land of the Kangra Devi temple. The temperature was soaring at 35 degrees when I reached here at 11 in the morning. While taking a few shots of the temple, I sat behind a pillar of a sub-temple within the same premises. The thing I liked about the shot is it's 3 different elements, the sacred tree where people offer their prayers by tying chunris, the main temple's backside and the sub-temple's pillar.          		 It was in 1959 when HH Dalai Lama initiated his quest to free Tibet from the clutches of Chinese government. This led to the migration of many Buddhists to India. The Indian government provided them with Dharamshala as a place to settle and flourish. On coming back from Gyoto monastery, I decided to take a late walk to Dharamkot, another small section of the Dharamshala province. This shot was taken en-route to Dharamkot which is about 14 km from Dharamshala. The route from McLeod upwards gets a bit scary as there are very less homes and shops with all the tall tress blanketing the road with very little light creeping in. The sentiments of the message on the shutter of the shop says it all, the Tibetans although have settled and made a living here, haven't forgotten the cause that they had left for.: by karankpl, Views[966]
     
    My next destination were something one can't miss when in Dharamshala, the Tibetan monasteries. This was my 2nd day of the journey. The Buddhist religion is known for their simple living and peaceful nature which in turn has made many people around the world follow it. The monasteries are an art in itself, the vibrancy and the peace one can experience here is divine. I took this shot at the Gyoto monastery, one of the lesser visited monastery situated about 10 km from the main town of Dharamshala. I reached here about 1 hour prior to the afternoon prayers and got real good time to shoot the beauty of the monastery. Just before the main prayer, one of the monks came in to offer his prayers.          		 I reached Dharamshala on the morning of 23rd May. Known for its crafty works and travel enthusiasts, I got a perfect welcome from the town with colors, designs, bikers and trekkers all around. While going to my hotel on day 1, I came across this scene where a classic Royal Enfield was parked in front of a wall with the famous traditional drapes with prints of Hindu Gods put up for sale. One can see a lot of bullets around which has been a favorite for a lot of bikers here in India. The contrast in terms of the nature and color was something that attracted me to get this photographed and I knew straight away that I was going to have a great time here :): by karankpl, Views[781]

    The Howrah Bridge is a cantilever bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. Commissioned in 1943, the bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two cities Howrah and Kolkata (Calcutta) .
