    Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺), or more commonly known as Temple of the Golden Pavilion (金閣寺) is famous for its walls covered in gold leaf. Originally dating as far back as the 1300s, Rokuon-ji was accidentally burned down in 1950 and later rebuilt in 1955. The gold leaf being 5/10,000mm thick was added due to the popularity of visual senses during the 1300s in which the sun reflects off the gold.: by hardy, Views[746]
