    Children from one of the riverside villages, en route to Luang Prabang via the Mekong....we stopped numerous times to pick up bags of rice and/or local passengers bound for the 'big city'.: by lolo, Views[598]

         		 The park surrounding the Tat Kuang Xi (waterfall) had an enclosure housing this beautiful tiger. She was 'rescued' from poachers a few years back, and they now take donations to keep her fed and housed. : by lolo, Views[530]

         		 The National Palace in Luang Prabang..backs on to the Mekong so that the visitors to the Royal family could disembark and make their way up to their hosts. The Royal family was in residence until 1975, when they were exiled during the revolution and whisked away to caves in the northeast of the country. Where, of course, they died one by one of inadequate food and medical care. Controversy and speculation abound...the Lao people will not enter the palace after dark as they believe it is haunted by royal spirits!!: by lolo, Views[592]
