         		 FOSSIL BOULDER - This rock has many ammonite impressions and vestige of bivalves. Many Mangyans who live in the vicinity are not aware of their scientific value.          		 HAWILI RIVER II - This is a tributary of Hawili River I. Unlike Hawili River I, this is characterized by rocks and immense jumble of boulders along its two and a half kilometers stretch. This is a rich vein of Jurassic marvels, especially of ammonites and bivalves. It is cradled in a lush landscape of vegetation. Brooding hills are planted to coconut, bamboo, palm trees, banana and a variety of fruit trees. Lofty trees have been reduced in number because of selective cutting and some were sacrificed to high charcoal demand in the last 4 years. For a new comer this rustic sight is lovely.          		 MANGYAN FAMILY - One kilometer away from home, this Mangyan family bought some provisions from the tiangge, a weekly village market on Thursdays. Historically, Mangyans are believed to be direct descendants of the Malays. Mountainous and forested lands are mostly ancestral properties of the Mangyans and such are acknowledged by the government. With the coming of the Spanish colonizers in the 16th century, they were driven away from the lowlands. Life in this rural community is hard. Livelihood is largely dependent on agricultural crops and subsistence is badly affected when long scorching summer sets in from March to late May.     Some are not afraid of getting infected with diseases, not that they don’t mind but rather they can’t afford to buy a pair of boots. This young kid has slippers (at least) but doesn’t want to wear when collecting trash because her slippers are almost torn apart and she might have hard time to go to school after the Christmas Break.          		 This is one of the trash collectors’ temporary shelters; they stay in these shelters when they want to have break time. But most cases these become their homes when they need to stay for a week waiting to get their collected items sold.
