         		 Releasing one's 'krathong' is a surprisingly complex affair, with mud, current, and wind being factors in the riverside.          		 Scarred for life. A swollen and damaged foot on a baby elephant is the result of stepping into an animal trap. The tissue damage is so great, veterinarians are not certain they could intervene surgically to reduce the swelling. This elephant has a hard time walking and running, constantly dragging his larger than normal foot around. He is smaller in size than a normal elephant his age and because of a life of trauma and abuse, he lacks simple skills as placing food in his mouth without constantly dropping it.
