         		 The deep tracks of a large adult grizzly beside a rainforest stream are evidence of a bear searching for salmon. Grizzlies get as much as 65 percent of their yearly calories from these oily fish.          		 With its mouth and paws stained from the blood of salmon, a spirit bear takes a break to shake the rain from its fur. This rare subspecies of American black bear, with a recessive gene for white fur, is only found in the Great Bear Rainforest.          		 After avoiding hungry predators like seals, wolves and bears on their upstream migration to spawn and die, the carcasses of chum salmon are swept downstream and pile up on a boulder. Bears and scavengers spread salmon carcasses into the surrounding forest, where the nutrients from their decaying bodies will fertilize the trees. These narrow passageways may be beautiful, but the tight spaces and treacherous currents they create are also a hazard to marine navigation.     In the heart of British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, a young female grizzly bear explores a fallen log. The Great Bear is the largest piece of coastal temperate rainforest left on Earth. While grizzlies have been eradicated from most of their former range in North America, this region is one of their remaining strongholds.          		 In the midst of busy Granville Street, twirling and manipulating a golden sphere, is a street performer named Dawn. Though she appears peaceful, this image was preceded by a series of twist and turns manipulating the sphere in such a way that it revolves around her body then alas, the spiral ends. It is a micro-cosmic reflection of the wider world and the universe.          		 Sea-gulls are a common sight in industrial countries. Large, loud and a bother to all residents of the countries in which the birds can be found as they litter the docks and shorelines. I estimate 3% of locals / nationals in countries where seagulls are found have pictures of the feathered loud-horn. As for me, I live in a country with no sea-gulls. Long and short of it; I was fascinated with the birds and I own 60 photographs of the specie fit for publication. This particular shot speaks of the mischievousness and majesty of the gulls.          		 Traveling to other lands is often exciting. You get to play out your expectations of your arrival in your head, but as animated, vivid or dramatic as it may be, it never matches the sight that visits you especially looking out of the plane’s window. This aerial shot of vast Canada is one of the many scapes that prove this notion true.     Purposefully named after the song with the same title. I marveled at this 1950s taxi. Why? Because when you are from the third world, it is always amusing to see first-hand the elements of large cities as depicted by television.
