         		 Walk from Nerežišća. The population on the island unfortunately declines in the postwar years - there are more elderly population, fewer children are being born. However, in recent years, mini baby boom is going on, and more and more people are returning to the traditional island life.          		 Brač is an island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic coast, specifically in Dalmatia. Surface 395.5 km², population 14.500. Brac can be reached by ferry from Split.          		 Blaca desert - monestary. Brač is a place of strong tradition. In 15th century Turks invaded Bosnia and glagolitic preists fleed from Poljica to Brač, where the duke of Brač gave them a piece of land and premission to settle. Settling in the caves, they founded the monastic cooperative and begin to cultivate the land.In 1570th they buildt a monastery and a church, and increased their holdings. They developed trade and for a long time this desert was one of the biggest businesses on the island. Blaca were also famous for the first opservatory in this region.
