         		 Place de la Concorde as quite a bit of History associated with it. It used to be named place de Louis XV, but then the revolution happened and it was changed to place de la revolution and held the guillotine. I think it used to get pretty bloody. After that was all over they changed it to plce de la concorde. Place de la concorde also keeps a big obelisk (like in this picture) that was given to France by Egypt in 18 something. We couldn't figure out why. I guess Egypt just wanted to show it liked France. They're friends, apparently. Also, Place de la concorde is right in the middle of evertyhing important. It is on the
         		 These are the Military Police that were all over (no kidding, there were bus-loads of them on every street) who were, we speculated, making sure the political demonstration did not get out of hand.     This is the Opera house. We didn't get too close to it because of this political demonstration happening (it was some national holiday I think). This guy is the guy who is propsoing policies like remove every non-native French person from France or something.          		 As impressed as I was with Notre Dame, I was more impressed with the mob of tourists that were trying to get in. The line was huge. We were outside in a big plaza, and I felt claustrophobic. It was crazy.: by ramsaym, Views[377]

         		 This is the lounge area of our Paris hostel. It was a really great place to stay. The only down side of it was that our room was on the 5th floor, and often I'd be the guy who had to go to our room to get the garlic or the couscous, and I'd get up there and I'd forget my key and have to come back down.          		 As well as a food market, there is a book market (of French books--for some reason, I was surprised by this), and an artist market. This entertainer guy was in the art market.     This is a Traboulle. Lyon was a huge silk making city back in the day. As a result, lots of it's architecture catered to the silk making industry. These Traboulles are passages that go between buildings to other buildings, and are covered. They're almost like secret passages. They were used to transport silk through the city without having to go outside (and get the silk wet if it was raining). They were also really useful during the Second World War for the french resistance.: by ramsaym, Views[686]
