    Group of tourists passing by inhabitants of the batey. The inhabitants of the host country were gathered outside sharing a moment together. I remember feeling like an unwanted guest, a creature part of a herd of loud animals with hoofs so big they could destroy everything they stepped on, a group of unjustly privileged human species confronted to a similar reality they face back home: homelessness. The scene seemed odd, and I wondered why they were not using the appliances. I later learned they simply could not, as the machines were not adapted to their living conditions. by: onethousandwords Views[751] Beautiful little girl living in the batey close to the fields. She sat quietly next to the group of tourists to listen to the conversations. Her eyes were sad and meaningful, and her attitude timid but assertive. She seemed to know so much, yet eager to learn even more. by: onethousandwords Views[484] Men working on the sugarcane fields. Their back, arched before they noticed the group of tourists, straightened promptly at the sight of the foreigners. We later learned they were setting their eyes on the people that would give them their working gloves for the rest of the year.     Did we mention it was cramped and dark? Half the time Kurt had to duck down but still hit his head a few times. Each time the guide asked us, you wanna go down one more level? Er, sure, I guess. Oh btw, to repeat Potosi is 4000m and the mines are 4200m (12,600ft). So, bit hard to breathe and adding cramped dark dusty mine tunnels does not help. You end up gasping sometimes, yet you don't want to breathe too deeply. : by finally, Views[485]
