Donned in snowshoes, those with the eagerness to truly appreciate the beauty that is a Canadian winter are rewarded with stunning views while traveling by foot throughout the backcountry.  Although many rivers and lakes do freeze over during the cold winter months, many are fast flowing, keeping the frigid ice from creeping in and closing off its water to the outside world.
