The Herd Boy is a distinctive feature of Basotho society. They carry a cane when they take the cattle grazing. The cane has a unique decoration, that represents the family they belong to, which literally serves as an ID book.

The cultural and social traditions of the community have been maintained rather untouched throughout the years, being passed on for generations, enabling them to be found still so incredibly vivid in the 21st Century World.
