The Children's Memorial standing in memory of all the children who lost their lives as a result of the atomic bombing. Originally inspired by Sadako Sasaki who was exposed to the radiation from the bomb and developed leukaemia. Her aim was to fold 1000 paper cranes, to have her wish granted, for world peace. Unfortunately she lost her battle before she could finish her cranes, her friends finished them for her. To this day anyone can offer their own paper crane in memory of those children that died. During my visit I left my own origami crane as tribute. : by kathrynskreations, Views[351]
