Dance of the Yak Train. For anyone who has traveled in the Himalayas, yaks can be seen around every turn, along every pass and on slopes of impossible steepness. They are the beasts of burden that necessitated the famous trans Himalayan trade route between Tibet and Nepal. Often surly and unruly, they can carry over 100kg on their backs. One tip: Always walk on the inside of the trail when passing yaks, as they have a nasty habit of knocking unweary travellers off the side of the mountain, myself almost included.: by grantstirton, Views[1275]
