    On my last night in this hostel in Agnes Waters here, I finally see it, though rushed the time may be, just a few minute till they removed it, is all I had, to see and photograph this large and beautiful a Australian Green Tree Frog! by: tazau Views[1155] By the pond nearby, soon after yet another ever drenching rain, in Agnes Waters, I bide my time for the few hours of light cloud and sunshine, testing my new camera, by slowly chasing dragonflies. by: tazau Views[976] During yet another heavy downpour, through yet another week of storms, roads cut off to get out of town, a praying mantis comes into the hostel, possibly to escape the flooding rain. It has one leg missing, which was somehow torn right off, a few meters away. by: tazau Views[868] After a long walk out, on the road to 1770, I took a turn and headed towards a quiet beach. I walked back quietly along the ever eroding beach, with trees uprooted all the way along, from the 3 bad storms lasting 4-10 days each, in just 5 - 6 weeks. What a difference a day or 2 makes! It wasn't just here that received 3 long bad batterings, but the majority of the Queensland an NSW east coasts! by: tazau Views[1011] On my first night in Agnes Waters, I took a walk around in pitch black night, on the semi slippery path, in the hostel yard. On the way back to the light, I came across my first, in pitch black night, with my very first very large, ugly, poisonous, pesty Cane Toad. I met lots of along the way, out in every weather. most were small and moving fast, but this was and slow to moving, posing for my camera. by: tazau Views[1121]
     
    Back burning to try and protect a fence line. Back burners work in teams of 2 with the person operating the drip torch hanging on to the side of a vehicle to cover more ground. by: fire Views[926] The Bullo Shire's grader provides much needed suport to help with back burning. Graders are needed to cut fire brakes on the outside of the fire to allow back burning. This fire was about 22km in circumference by: fire Views[1407] A plain feeds information to ground crews on size and direction of fire. Air suport is vital in daylight hours to provide accurate information to ground. by: fire Views[1043] Dan Hoch the manger of Dynevor Downs Station back burns to try and get this massive fire under controle. back burning is the only way to controle fires of this size. by: fire Views[2194] The 3 Fire wardens talk to Dan Hoch manager of Dynevor Downs Station (in the blue shirt) about how best to start fighting the fire. by: fire Views[1380]
