For centuries, Poland has been a bridge between the East and West. Set in the heart of Europe, Poland is a multifaceted country where the capital and medieval towns are trawled by contemporary city slickers, and where horse-drawn carts negotiate country lanes, untouched by progress. Poland remains reasonably cheap and safe, with hospitable people who welcome visitors. Over the past decade, it has developed into a modern, vibrant and progressive state, yet at the same time it maintains its traditional culture. It's a fascinating destination and now is a good time to go.

Warsaw Rising

A four hour train trip in which I slept most of the way took me to Warsaw where I managed to bungle my way to Oki Doki Hostel with the aid of a googlemap photo on my camera. The huge glaring sign on the side of the building helped me find it.... Read more >

A Sobering Time in Krakow

Fri, 27 May 2011 | By drmitch | Views [30]

I decided to take the day train from Prague to Krakow as I’d read a few dodgy things about the night train, and find that after night commutes I end up wasting the following day in any case. Which was lucky as we ended up stopping at some ... Read more >
