It's easy to see why Vietnam is a country on the rise - there's no time for rest ... the world is there and the local residents are trying to scratch a dollar off it. After hundreds of years of war, reinvention and persistence are prevailing and the Vietnamese are thriving. What a fascinating country to visit in these times! Vietnam has a bit of everything - fresh and fragrant food, bustling and rambunctious marketplaces, beautiful mountains and beaches and stunning French-Colonial architecture. Such is the natural diversity along it's 2000km coastline, there's never a bad time to go.

Also the gouverment of the German Democratic Republic was impressed by the people living under the earth during the war. So they gave A WATCH (!!!) to show that.. I just HAD to take a picture..: by utegute, Views[1]

One last thing from Vietnam (so far): the price of the house you build is about how much space the house takes on the street. Not the actual areal. That means, there are a lot of very narrow, long houses in Vietnam. Most funny, only the front is painted, the rest stayes grey :): by utegute, Views[1]

And then they had this temple for the elephants! I liked that. Elephants are working so hard all their lifetime, that the people decided to give them a temple. And they honour the dead elephants with offered fruits and incense and stuff. There was even a little hill where apperently an elephant was burried..: by utegute, Views[1]

more pagodas: by utegute, Views[1]

I saw some women producing incense-sticks. They first make a dough out of cinnemon, wood-powder, some oil and water. Then they kind of wrap it around thin sticks. And in the end it's putted n the street to dry in the sun. There you go, the stick is ready.: by utegute, Views[1]

The Vietnamese Central Highlands by motorbike

Fri, 16 Oct 2009 | By alistair | Views [30]

Delat is quite a small town, quite pretty, but not a lot to do in the town itself. I’d mainly come here as it is the base of a company called Easy Riders, who offer guided motorcycle tours all over Vietnam. I’d arranged a three day motorcycle tour ... Read more >

In one of the easiest decisions we've ever made, we have decided to change our flight plans and head out to Laos a couple of days early. I don't mean to be too hard on poor Hanoi, but it just really isn't our scene. Ha Long Bay was pretty cool however ... Read more >
