    The grounds of the Perth Cultural Centre, a wonderful meeting spot in Northbridge, but barely 5 minutes' walk to the heart of the CBD, where the tall buildings are. The Cultural Centre features the WA State Library on the right, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, in the red brick building, as well as the State Theatre of Western Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia, and the Western Australian Museum.: by flyted, Views[957]
         		 The Bell Tower at the corner of William & Francis Streets, originally built in 1937 at a nearby convent, but taken apart and rebuilt here, brick by brick, in 1991, to add some flavour to the street scape.: by flyted, Views[499]

         		 A close-up of the roundabout, but wait, what does it say on that screen in the background? I had no idea that was there when I took the picture.          		 James Street in Northbridge, an inner-city suburb just north of Perth CBD, in fact about a 2 minute walk over the train tracks. It promotes itself as a separate area though from Perth. Northbridge is known as the bar and restaurant hub of Perth, as well as backpacker-central, with at least a dozen hostels within a few small blocks of each other. : by flyted, Views[607]

    Further parkland along the Swan River, leading up to The Narrows, where the Swan really opens up into a wide lake. Kings Park is through the trees on the right. Most days in Perth are pretty much like this: sunny, blue sky, 20 degrees, wonderful. Although there can be periods of heavy rain in the winter, the city is one of the sunniest in Australia, getting around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year.: by flyted, Views[663]
         		 A set of the city's free exercise equipment, set up along a biking/jogging path in the park next to the river. It's a very popular idea which apparently is spreading quickly around the world, but I think started in Europe.: by flyted, Views[1693]
