         		 Camels couched on Cable Beach at the end of another long day of touring. Camels were introduced to the beach a few years ago by enterprising tour operators, and now there are a few different outfits offering camel-back rides up and down the beach.     Close up on the Intombi. Back in Broome's pearling heyday, from the 1880's to around the 1920's, the town had a fleet of dozens of these small boats which would comb the coast, sending off divers to look for mother of pearl shell. The diver, their air pump tender, a sheller and the pilot would live on board for weeks at a time, pulling up thousands of dollars worth of shell for the master pearlers in Broome.: by flyted, Views[443]

         		 The iconic statue of Sir Donald Bradman, the world's most famous cricketer, often likened to Wayne Gretzky (or vice-versa) for his dominance and innate abilities. In cricket, a lifetime batting average of around 50 is considered elite; Bradman's was 99.94. He spent most of his life in Adelaide, while leading Australia to international cricket success. It is said that when Nelson Mandela emerged from prison, one of his first questions was, “Is Donald Bradman still alive?”: by flyted, Views[1380]
         		 Entrance to the Adelaide Oval, often hailed as “the world's prettiest cricket ground.” It sits between Adelaide and North Adelaide, along the banks of the Torrens, immersed in trees and grassy parkland.: by flyted, Views[413]
         		 The River Torrens, back in central Adelaide, the main source of the city's water. The Adelaide Festival Centre is the white building on the left, where many of the city's myriad of festivals take place. Some of the world's most acclaimed festivals take place here, primarily the Adelaide Festival of Arts, which in turn has spawned the Adelaide Fringe (2nd largest in the world after Edinburgh), WOMADelaide, the huge world music event, and the world's largest literary festival: Adelaide Writer's Week.          		 The opposite view from Mt. Lofty, looking east. Most of this and more was burned in the Ash Wednesday fires in February, 1983, which was the worst bushfire in Australia until the Black Saturday bushfires near Melbourne in 2009. The fire spread over Mt.          		 The famous obelisk on Mt. Lofty summit, which can be seen from the city itself, and is used as a navigation beacon even today.          		 A cloudy day unfortunately but you can still make out the city, sitting in its island of parkland, 15 km away. Adelaide is the 5th largest city in Australia, with a population of about 1.3 million people.          		 Seppeltsfield Winery, who specialise in port. They are famous for their 100-year-old collection, started in the 1870's, when their founder Oscar Benno decreed one 500 litre barrel of their finest port wine would be set aside each year to mature for 100 years.          		 The dam at Barossa Reservoir, which supplies much water to the valley and its wineries. The dam was built in 1902 and was one of the first concrete arch dams in the world. Nowadays it is especially known for its acoustics, and is popularised as the “whispering wall.” When standing on the platform at the top-right edge, one can clearly hear a person talking on the opposing platform, 140 metres away, as if they were standing right next to you.
