    Another amazing part of my job was seeing the volunteers interacting with the kids. Each day as we drove up in the van the kids would run towards us looking for a hug or hand to hold. Having someone thank me or tell me this was the best day of their life was extremely humbling. I feel so lucky that I had a small part in facilitating mutual love and growth for all involved.          		 This is Isandla. She is one of the girls who stays with Mama Doris full time, as both her parents died from AIDS and she has no other relatives to take her in. We bonded after I bandaged her foot one day. It was covered in third degree burns, and when I asked what happened the only explanation I could get was simply
         		 The boys were a bit aloof, and it took me a while to be accepted into their club. They have special handshakes and always want to cool. This boy is wearing a volunteer's hat and pair of donated Guess jeans. In many ways, South Africa is a country caught in limbo between two worlds. Many people struggle to pay for food or clothes; however, they also have cell phones and Facebook.          		 The woman seated in the middle is Mama Doris who runs the crèche. Her English isn't very good and neither is my Zulu but we managed to communicate somehow. She sat in this spot most days watching the volunteers interact with the children and always had a crowd around her. She is an amazing woman letting the parents or guardians of the kids pay with what they can, or sometimes not at all, for her services.          		 Driving through the village every day was always better than the previous day. As I got to know more and more people in the community, I would stop and say sawubona (hello) to friends and wave to kids who knew me from the school.     Anchored, with a view. About 40 min into the hiking trail, one finds this viewpoint of the plain. These scrubs’ roots are strongly anchored in between the rocks; no mountain wind will blow them away. They are privileged enough to have this view every day. : by karoo, Views[270]
         		 Valley of Desolation Plains. The mountain seems to just suddenly stop, laying low for a few kilometers and then just start rising out of the earth again. This spectacular scene was created over 100 million years ago by volcanic and erosive forces. : by karoo, Views[671]
         		 Endangered Cape Mountain Zebra. One of the special sightings in the Camdeboo is the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra.          		 Lonely Tree. On the plains, which are mostly covered with grass and small scrubs, one will find riverbeds, which usually is densely populated by Acacia trees.          		 Demonstrating their masculinity and strength, Vanuatu men chant during a yam harvest and fertility ritual, an annual custom of the Pentecost people. Looking on, sits a mature Caucasian man with his legs femininely crossed. Our world has evolved, adapted and changed. The lines of gender have been crossed and blurred.          		 The Abbot of Nan Hua Temple, Venerable Hui-Fang, shared the New Year's message of Venerable Master Hsing Yun with eight hundred people. The Grand Master spoke wise words of “Heavenly Blessing and Protection.
         		 The Lion dance is done by two dancers per lion. They move on the rhythm of drums and gongs which creates a spectacular show.          		 On the second day we ventured down into the valley and stumbled upon a small rural village. It was a Sunday afternoon and the local community had gathered out in the sunshine to watch their weekly football match and support their local team. Instead of perfectly cut green grass with a backdrop of branded concrete this game is played on a dry field, no lines and plenty of smiles.
