         		 We traveled from Chile to Argentina through the Andes. The mountains were unlike anything we have ever seen. Very rugged and sharp with little vegetation. This stretch of road behind us is called 30 Curvas. It speaks for itself. : by danidawnandstevo, Views[677]
         		 The lunch included bread, starter, entree, then dessert followed by espresso. So much food I didn't need to eat till the next day. Chile is famous for their fish so shrimp for starters then salmon cooked over a open fire. I call this the South American Jagger Bomb.     These concrete eggs are new technology for the winery and produces some of their premium wines. Instead of a cylindrical vat that collects all of the skins of the wine towards the top to be skimmed off, the egg allows the skins to move around adding more flavor to the wine.          		 Laguna del Inca was located at the very top of 30 Curvas along with ski resort Portillo famous for holding it's first downhill international ski competition in 1966. Lots of ski memorabilia in the lodge including photos of the US and Canadian ski teams from back in the day.          		 Starving we ventured out to get some food and settled on a place called Top Dog. To reduce the amount of confusion ordering we both got the same sandwich which we knew contained beef and a few other things we didn't really know. When it came out there was gobs of mayo dripping from it with green string beans mixed in with the meat. Not the most appetizing sandwich. : by danidawnandstevo, Views[737]
         		 We toured a museum in Santa Cruz. It was located in our hotel and was included in our wine excursion package. The museum took you through the early prehistoric days of dinosaurs, early man in South America, the Spaniards conquering them and the liberators who took their country back from them. It ended with an exhibit of the 33 miners who were trapped and eventually saved after two months.          		 We were told sunrise couldn't be missed on the other side of the island so we used the car to wake up early and drive to the other side and check it out.          		 Final night of the festival where thousands attended to watch the new King and Queen be crowned. What a show the put on complete with live music and fireworks!     This crater was the birthplace of the Moai. The were literally cut out of the mountain side from this location and transported to remote locations around the island. : by danidawnandstevo, Views[323]
         		 Probably the most spectacular site on the island. Fifteen Moai that were knocked over in the 17th century by fighting tribes then scattered around the area in 1960 by a Tsunami caused by an earthquake. Chilie and Japan collaborated in 1992 to erect the Moai and we were sure glad they did. : by danidawnandstevo, Views[345]

         		 This is the site of the Banana Tree Races. We had heard about them but were not sure exactly what day or time they would be on. After leaving Galapagos we traveled for 26 hours by boat, cars and planes to arrive on Easter Island one hour before they started.
