         		 Halebidu temple, this temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. The construction of the temple had started in 1121 AD and continued for around 90 years, but never finished completely yet it remains a marvel. Reason of incomplete work is every time the work started it was attacked by rival dynasty. The material used for both temples is soap stone which is soft and easy to carve when taken out from earth and gets harder over prolonged exposure to the atmosphere. Since early days, the design of water storage plays an important role in Indian temple architecture. people used to travel on bullock-cart, horse-cart or feet and there were no hotels or motels so temples used to be a place where they took shelter to rest and relax; for their inhabitation there was provision of water inside the temple in the form stepped well or tank (Kund), water in these kunds came either from river or other natural resource.
