    Window to another world. The size, scale and story of Antarctica, is indeed overwhelming and humbling. As we bid adieu to our winged friends and other mammals, I realized that we were leaving a really pristine place behind – one that we should ensure to preserve. May the photos speak a thousand words and narrate the memories firmly etched. by: ram Views[438] Soar like a gull! They probably have the best seats in the arena, a hundred feet in the air overseeing the vast expanse of blue and white and shades in between. I was reminded of a quote from Jonathan Livingstone Seagull (by Richard Bach), which said, “For most gulls, it is not flying that matters, but eating. We’re on thin ice here!’ The youthful Gentoo penguins were excited to see us as well, smelling good, after their morning bath.     The chinstrap penguin is one of the different species of penguin which is found the South Shetlands.     As you float through this abstract world, you begin to see familiar things staring back at you in the grand ice sculptures. The “Iceberg Graveyard” along the Pleneau Peninsula would surely have tormented those who were stranded here with bittersweet visions of home. by: glenndixon Views[456] This monument on Petermann Island is a tribute to three scientists who were swept out to sea on an ice flow in 1982 after seeking refuge in a nearby hut. Each of the men had two doses of morphine in their individual supply kits. “The cruel thing is, it requires three doses per man to do the job.” - Robert K Headland, Expedition Historian. by: glenndixon Views[495] A refuge hut lies dormant on Petermann Island along the Antarctic Peninsula.
