    Notting Hill Carnival - Notting Hill, London. For me this shit captures what carnival was all about - the wet yet warm air creating a steam like atmosphere above the streets.     Trafalgar Square by: londoner Views[303] Brick Lane: brick lane is a must visit if you're in london. The place is lively with many indian restaurants, spanish restaurants and italian restaurants. It's colourful and exciting. It's mostly known for it's beautiful street art. The one above is an illustration of such. It hit me personally because as it may be street art to one's eye...it's something more profound to another. The door and the windows are painted with bright colours, leaving what's inside to be a dark secret. Kind of like most of our personalities...we all show happiness but share those dark, sad moments with those who only have a key to our door. by: subranu Views[1130] The London Tube - the london tube transports people within the city. The city is a big one. The tube not only blends cultures through the means of people, but also music. If it's not someone taping away to the beats of the song playing through his ear phones, it's the people playing their violins at guitars at the tube stations. Many people think the tube is morbid and mundane. But look closely and observe people...many of them are touritsts, travelers, musicians, business men, students, teachers...a blend of all common professions and passions. by: subranu Views[1156] Ice and Fire - the one thing that holds common for all cultures from across the world is basic human emotions. Without emotions, one culture cannot understand the other.Emotions are good and bad...a blend of the cold and the hot...the ice and the fire. by: subranu Views[911] Paddington Station, London - Travel to many people means many different things. To me, it's all about culture. London, in general, is city with diverse cultures and ethnicities.     After being to London once I knew going back that I had to get a great shot of a London taxi and a double decker bus in one picture. Attempt after attempt came this picture shot with my 50mm again. I love it because it illustrates the importance these two symbolic pieces have in the country. Rarely seen elsewhere this picture of both vehicles together is just great. by: rpmitchell Views[641] I title this A Different Take because while in London many photographers choose to take a distant shot of The Eye. Using a Canon ultra wide lens I was able to catch this piece from the base of the wheel giving a different perspective. The combination of lousy weather and not much coloration made the black and white option a rather great one in this case. by: rpmitchell Views[672] A night scene photograph of Oxford Street in front of Marble Arch in London. by: schwepps Views[678] Street Performances: This man who could perform many tricks, including fitting his body through a tennis racket, became a familiar face during my three months in London. I remember seeing him for the first time during my initial week in London. Being from Georgia, I was not used to stumbling upon street performers on a daily basis, and I was absolutely stunned. I felt like there was a free circus act everywhere I walked, and I could not get enough. I watched his entire act and was mesmerized. A few weeks later, I saw him performing again in a different location. He stuck out quite easily because you would hear a loud voice in the midst of a large crowd of people. I did not know it at the time, but I would run across his act so many times that I felt as though I personally knew him. I was familiar with what lines he would say and which tricks he would perform. When he pulled out the tennis racket and the crowd cheered in excitement, I simply watched in amusement. His act served as a sign of the transition that was taking place inside of me; I began as a newcomer not only to London, but to Europe itself, and ended up as a regular to his act and very accustomed to seeing his face. In a sense, his ongoing performances made me feel more at home. by: mmsmith4 Views[563] Venturing Across the Pond: I will never forget the day I stumbled upon St. James Park in London while it was pouring rain. Luckily, I had my umbrella because of my knowledge of London weather; however, it was the first time since I had arrived that it was absolutely pouring rain, and I just happened to be in the middle of a large and open park. However, it was one of my favorite moments of the trip. I suppose it was because of the loud noise of the rain combined with the ironic quietness that came with it. There was no one else in the entire park; I had the beautiful area to myself, if you don't count the swans and pelicans, that is. I wandered aimlessly through the vicinity, and when I walked up one hill, I found myself on the grounds of Buckingham Palace for the first time. The rain then let up, and the most beautiful sunset appeared. This photograph is standing in front of Buckingham Palace looking over the pond that lies in the park.     Iconic London Town: This was taken during one of our many picnics we had in the famous and mesmerizing English parks. We had just finished our meal and were lying in the grass taking in the beautiful day. I was experimenting with my camera settings and left the park with this photograph. What I enjoy about this image is the iconic red telephone booth in front of the traditional black cab. It sums up some of the most famous representations of this eye-opening city. by: mmsmith4 Views[688] The Late Charlie Chapman: The Charlie Chapman character in this photograph exemplifies the old-fashioned and traditional qualities which are emitted throughout the entirety of London.
