Gordon's Bay Harbor in South Africa provided the perfect opportunity to do this. by: cdew Views[583] This waterfall cascading down the side of Gifberg Mountain in the Namaqualand district of South Africa provides the perfect image of early evening tranquility. by: cdew Views[1308] Steering Appetites: In addition to the nutrition scheme, vendors arrive at schools to sell a range of snacks for learners and educators – including chips, sweets, atchar (spicy relish), vetkoek (deep-fried dough balls), fish and even chicken feet. This lady transports all her goods by herself in her wheelbarrow, which also conveniently doubles as a seat during the long waits between lesson breaks.     Achieving Together: A large pile of chopped wood rests against the wire school fence. The wood is collected for use in building fires for the cooking of school meals. Volunteers work together quietly and efficiently to sort the pots for the food distribution while learners wait, and watch eagerly, from their desks. by: leighat_durban Views[727] Taking Stock: A community volunteer involved in food preparation for the school nutrition programme, wipes a plate with dishwashing detergent. She eagerly smiled and asked me to take her picture but stopped smiling as soon as I raised the camera.     The Lion dance is done by two dancers per lion. They move on the rhythm of drums and gongs which creates a spectacular show. The head of the lion is made out of paper mâché and the twinkle and movement of the lion’s eyelids as well as the movement of the head and mouth are supposed to enhance the lion’s vitality and longevity, while the tail of the lion sweeps away bad fortune from last year.: by laetitia, Views[1273]
