This river runs along the edge of Saraguru and while it is revered (a temple can be seen in the middle of the river) and valued for its role in agricultural irrigation and domestic uses, certain practices such as washing clothes along the bank introduces soaps and toxins into the water. This is affecting some of the fish populations and degrading the health of the ecosystem.     -The Way We Were- Whilst back in Cambodia for another volunteer mission trip I wanted to capture the charm and wonder of Cambodia while also capturing the harsh poverty that went alongside it. This is a picture of some of the wall carvings in one of the temples in Angkor Wat in the Siem Reap province of Cambodia. There are hundreds of temples in this region which are a remnant of the once glorious Khmer Empire. Quite a contrast to how the country is now; still struggling over thirty years after Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime decimated this nation. by: tyson Views[877] After Kangra, I further traveled down towards Nangal and made made another stop at Jwala Ji temple, another of the holy places in Indian culture. Famous for it's unexplained flames burning through centuries, this holy place has seen even the great Mughal emperor, Akbar, walk barefoot for almost 550 km to come and pay his homage. I took this shot at the havan-kund, which is in the premises of the main temple. While waiting for the smoke in the havan to intensify, i noticed this child come and very religiously do the usual practice of offering prasad at the havan-kund. This is one of the many pictures i took of him and never in all those clicks he looked at me, nor did the sound of the camera distract him. My journey ended here as I moved towards Nangal for the wedding with some great memories and even better shots :) by: karankpl Views[1648] On the 3rd day, I stared my journey downwards from Dharamshala. I halted at Kangra, land of the Kangra Devi temple. The temperature was soaring at 35 degrees when I reached here at 11 in the morning. While taking a few shots of the temple, I sat behind a pillar of a sub-temple within the same premises. The thing I liked about the shot is it's 3 different elements, the sacred tree where people offer their prayers by tying chunris, the main temple's backside and the sub-temple's pillar.
