    The women in Lahachowk don’t have direct employment which leaves them in charge feeding the animals such as goats, cows and buffalos. Each morning at sunrise the women leave their homes to cut grass and return after their families are awake to cook them breakfast. by: hetahannaloviisa Views[953] Many families in the village struggle with money and cant afford their children’s education which often forces the husbands to leave to foreign countries to earn more money. This river runs along the edge of Saraguru and while it is revered (a temple can be seen in the middle of the river) and valued for its role in agricultural irrigation and domestic uses, certain practices such as washing clothes along the bank introduces soaps and toxins into the water. This is affecting some of the fish populations and degrading the health of the ecosystem. This community has the task to clean the low price fish when the market is open.     Many women in Uganda ( like the one pictured here) are creating a hopeful future for their children by making and selling necklaces to pay for a better education. Women make less than $10 a month and a good education can cost up to $350 a year. Women in this village have a partnership with a US based charity called BOH to help sell their products in the USA. All of the females pitch in to help each other access areas that a single woman cannot. They told us they were very happy because they didn't have to walk 7km's each day just to get water. Instead it was only a couple of minutes walk.
