It was a cold day of autumn in a Turkish village, perfect for the hot tea (çay), that the locals would drink even if it was the hottest day in the summer. Tortum, Eastern Anatolia of Turkey, November of 2012.: by nadiamar, Views[1348] Title: Tea

Walking through the quiet old town of Omiš the next day, we were stopped by this dear old man and invited in to see his cellar - all because he'd asked for the empty plastic water bottle we were about to throw into a nearby bin. He made us try his homemade orhavac - a Croatian tipple (read "deadly lethal rakija") made from walnuts - and showed us photos of him accepting some prizes for some of his previous brews. A genuine soul, and a great ambassador for the Croatian tourism industry! And we guessed that he was going to recycle our bottle and use it for one of his next vintages!
