Godaido has a 'jade' aura, a jewel in Tohoku for many Buddhists since 1604. The temple reflects a Momoyama architectural style by Date Masamune, (one eyed dragon), the first Lord of Sendai. On the curved wooden supports of the four walls, carvings of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac are arranged facing their corresponding direction. This structure symbolizes a tower of strength and a place of zen for many persons who lost loved ones, their livelihood and their sense of hope after the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami in 2011. : by jhazle, Views[581]
