This is a Traboulle. Lyon was a huge silk making city back in the day. As a result, lots of it's architecture catered to the silk making industry. These Traboulles are passages that go between buildings to other buildings, and are covered. They're almost like secret passages. They were used to transport silk through the city without having to go outside (and get the silk wet if it was raining). They were also really useful during the Second World War for the french resistance.: by ramsaym, Views[680]
