    Independent Palace in Siagon. In February 1962 two pilots from Ngo Dinh Diem Republic of Vietnam Air Force sent on a raid against the Viet Cong rebelled and flew their aircraft over the palace and bombed it. The assassination attempt of the president failed and he ordered the building demolished and reconstructed.
