    Sami herders work and live very closely to their Reindeer, which has made the Reindeer very friendly, unafraid, and inquisitive of humans unlike farmed deer in other parts of the world. The Sami herders keep warm by making a fire in their wooden huts with the Reindeer roaming around outside. In Sweden only the Sami people can own Reindeer, which they use for food, clothing, trade and labour. They are really resourceful and in the past even used the Reindeer’s intestines as a form of thread to sew with. by: livvy Views[1162] In northern Swedish Lapland in the winter it is dark almost the whole time except for a glimpse of dusky light with some areas experiencing snowfall for eight months of the year with temperatures dropping down to -40 degrees Celsius. by: livvy Views[497] Swedish Sami people’s first language is not Swedish so having a Sami person speak to you in English show’s how tourist interest is growing and how the Sami people are adapting and willing to welcome foreigners into their way of life.     Mit der Faehre nach Magnetic Island. Auf der Strecke konnten wir eine Mutter Humpbackwal mit ihrem Neugegoborenen sehen. Das Baby lag auf dem Kopf der Mutter, um das Atmen und Schwimmen zu lernen, wurde uns erklaert. Auf dem Rueckweg am Nachmittag waren beide Humpbacks noch da. Das Baby schwamm neben der Mutter her. Es war schon ein sehr schoenes Schauspiel, die Natur so hautnah miterleben zu duerfen.: by heffmann, Views[159]
