![Huon pine is very rare and found only in Tasmania. It is a very hardwood and due to the altitude when it dies it does not rot. Once we climbed high enough it was common to see many scenes like this where the pine skeletons still stand but the vegetation below prolific. You can see the path on the right, by the time we got this high the paths and tracks became quite sparse. This images was taken just below the summit and Lake Tahune.
