This part of Colombia, 70Kms (1h 40mins, aprox) away from any urban area, and 15 minutes on car from the next village, is rich with exotic species due to it's natural weather and soil properties and artificial water canals, plantations and crops. The land is ripe with all kind of animals, from invertebrates pullulating the soil, wood, and plants, to small birds, reptiles and little mammals that feed from them. Predators like snakes and hawks also dwell in these lands. This Blue-winged Parrotlet i found struggling in the mud not being able to walk or move his feet properly. Falling from it's nest, bumping against a wall or being chased and hurt by another animal, are all possiblities in this enviroment. Two days after i found him and tried to take care of him, he died before i could afford to take him someplace he could get treatment.: by isabel, Views[383]
