On my final day at Bohol, I took a short trip to Balicasag Island. What struck me more than the fishes or the turtles was this fisherman doing his daily grind. Surrounded by what we call “paradise,” he instead is struggling to make a living for his family. According to 2013 poll conducted by Holy Name University (HNU) Research Center, about 66 percent of Boholanos are still suffering from poverty this year.
