Serious Slovakian Thinking

SLOVAKIA | Thu, 16 Jul 2015 | By davidpearlman | Views [300]

Yesterday wasn't an exciting day here in Britislava. The sun came out, and contrary to that being a good thing, that seems to contradict the communist style grey buildings to too great a degree.  After the usual jog, shower, and Mcbreakfast, I Went ... Read more >

SLOVAKIA | Wed, 15 Jul 2015 | By davidpearlman | Views [419]

Yesterday was another full day in Bratislava. The first thing I did (after taking a jog, showering, having a Mcbreakfast to write this blog, and going back to the hostel to brush my teeth) was take a walk to the old town to visit some of the monuments ... Read more >

Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

SLOVAKIA | Fri, 11 Jan 2013 | By alica | Photo Gallery | Scholarship Entry

Always fascinated by art and immortalized beauty of all kinds, I made “See beauty everywhere” my life’s motto. In my opinion, photography is one of many ways of feeling it, showing it to others and making people happy (life is too short not to be). I’m ... Read more >

Crime & Personal Safety - Slovakia

SLOVAKIA | Mon, 1 Aug 2011 | By safetyhub | Views [877]

If you watched the backpacker horror flick Hostel, you may not have the rosiest view of safety in Slovakia. Forget all that. Slovakia is among the safest countries in Europe, with crime rates that have been falling steadily since 2005. That ... Read more >

Getting Around Slovakia

SLOVAKIA | Mon, 1 Aug 2011 | By safetyhub | Views [492]

Slovakian roads are normally kept in good condition, thanks in part to a mandatory road tax common to Central Europe. To drive in the country you must buy a toll ticket - a vignette - at a border crossing, post office, or petrol station. ... Read more >

Hiking Safety - Slovakia

SLOVAKIA | Mon, 1 Aug 2011 | By safetyhub | Views [536]

Outdoorsy people cannot go to Slovakia and not hike, just as a foodie can't go to Italy on a low-carb diet. The country has too many perfect hiking spots along the Tatra mountains, for every skill level. For the more challenging hikes, ... Read more >

Baking in Bratislava

SLOVAKIA | Wed, 18 May 2011 | By drmitch | Views [472]

It was only an hours bus-ride from Vienna to Bratislava, where I dumped my stuff in the Patio Hostel and changed into cooler clothes to combat the warmer weather. To kill some time before the free walking tour at 4pm I headed up to Bratislava ... Read more >

Upon leaving the beach, I saw a man praying facing west towards the Kabaa in Mecca.
For me, this was a sight to behold. He appeared transfixed in worship, undisturbed by the presence of the gathering crowds.
Wherever I went in Karachi my camera came with me. I was captivated by the sights, sounds & multitude of textures. What I saw as strange & even simply beautiful to the locals it was part of the mundane, daily routine. This imperfect yet authentic & real Karachi was starring right at me. You used to be a part of this nation but it’s no longer yours. Yet still somehow our lives intertwined. : by iamrahma, Views[561]
