In the heart of the souk in Fes is an area devoted to the dying of leather.  If you look across the dye pits, you can see the rooftops of the many surrounding buildings & sense the hectic activity taking place there.  But the dye pits feel removed from the commotion, as the men go about their work.  It doesn’t matter that it takes a lot of labour, or that they may be waist-deep in dye as they stomp the leather beneath their feet…the leather is dyed how it has been for years – by hand & by foot: by justinekain, Views[593]
