But this was exactly the sense of acceptance that I felt within the Kalimpong community. Not for superiority’s sake, but simply because we don’t know what to make of it initially. Again a mother’s love prevails as the familiar element in this photograph, but of course what we see first is a little nude boy having a bath outside in the not-so-sunny weather.     An Afghan woman stands breastfeeding her child while waiting in line to receive aid from the Missionaries of Charity – better known as the Mother Teresa nuns. The nuns who have lived in Kabul since 2004 help almost 300 Afghan families they have personally visited and found to be in dire need. Afghanistan has no welfare system to support the poor, nor does it have any public acceptance of Christianity in the form of physical churches or similar. The nuns supply the families on a weekly basis with basic food, clothing, and other material needs through funding they receive from the Motherhouse in India. by: cathjam Views[1985] Casting a shadow of darkness upon men's children. (Quiapo, Manila, Philippines) by: ylana84 Views[615] A poor sobbing child . by: minakshi_singh Views[455] After Kangra, I further traveled down towards Nangal and made made another stop at Jwala Ji temple, another of the holy places in Indian culture. Famous for it's unexplained flames burning through centuries, this holy place has seen even the great Mughal emperor, Akbar, walk barefoot for almost 550 km to come and pay his homage. I took this shot at the havan-kund, which is in the premises of the main temple. While waiting for the smoke in the havan to intensify, i noticed this child come and very religiously do the usual practice of offering prasad at the havan-kund. This is one of the many pictures i took of him and never in all those clicks he looked at me, nor did the sound of the camera distract him.
